Rosatom starts production of TVS-Kvadrat fuel for Western nukes

MOSCOW, Jun 19 (PRIME) -- State nuclear power coronation Rosatom has launched production of Russia-invented TVS-Kvadrat, or FA-Square fuel for nuclear power reactors in the U.S. and Sweden, Alexei Grigoryev, a vice president of Rosatom’s subsidiary TVEL, told PRIME on Monday on the sidelines of the Atomexpo-2017 forum.

“Production has already begun,” he said, adding that the production capacity currently covers demand under U.S. and Sweden contracts.

“There are possibilities to expand the production. Everything depends on market demand,” he said.

TVEL is also discussing exports of TVS-Kvadrat to other countries, he added.
